How to Record an Unboxing Video (and Why It Matters)

Recording an unboxing video is one of the easiest ways to protect your purchase and ensure a smooth support experience if anything goes wrong. At NTPTechStore, we encourage every customer to record a short unboxing video because it helps both sides verify the condition of the product at the time of delivery.

This guide explains how to record a proper unboxing video, what to show, and why it is important for warranty, returns, and trust.

???? What Is an Unboxing Video?

An unboxing video is a simple recording that shows:

  • The parcel delivered to you

  • The process of opening it

  • The product and all included accessories

  • The condition of the item at first power-on

It can be recorded using any smartphone camera.

???? Why an Unboxing Video Matters

1. It Protects You

If you ever receive:

  • a damaged product,

  • missing accessories,

  • a wrong model, or

  • a non-working item
—your unboxing video acts as clear proof.

Support teams can verify the issue immediately and help you faster.

2. It Helps Us Resolve Your Claim Quickly

Your video allows our QC team to:

  • Understand what happened during shipping

  • Check if the courier mishandled the parcel

  • Approve replacement or refund without delays

This reduces back-and-forth and speeds up resolution.

3. It Prevents Fraud & Protects Fairness

Unfortunately, some customers try to return old or damaged units by claiming they received them in that condition. Unboxing videos ensure fairness for everyone—you and us.

This is why we encourage all customers to record their unboxing.

???? How to Record the Perfect Unboxing Video (Step-by-Step)

You don't need professional equipment—just follow these easy steps:

Step 1: Start Recording Before Opening the Package

  • Begin video before cutting tape.

  • Show the parcel from all sides.

  • Capture the NTPTechStore tape and label clearly.

Tip: Place the box on a clean, flat surface.

Step 2: Show the Label & Condition of the Parcel

Record:

  • Courier label

  • Order ID

  • Any dents or damages on the box

This helps identify courier-related issues.

Step 3: Cut the Tape in the Camera Frame

Keep the video recording while you:

  • Cut open the NTP tape

  • Remove bubble wrap

  • Take the product out

Avoid pausing or cutting the video.

Step 4: Show the Product from All Angles

Record:

  • Front and back

  • Ports, buttons, screen

  • Any branding or serial numbers

  • NTP QC stamp (if present)

Step 5: Show All Accessories

Make sure the video includes:

  • Adapter / cables

  • Remote

  • Manuals

  • Batteries / dongles (if included)

Step 6: Power On the Product (If Possible)

If the product type allows:

  • Power it on

  • Show the display / lights

  • Show remote working

  • For routers: show power light and antenna condition

This confirms initial working condition.

⏱️ How Long Should the Video Be?

A proper unboxing video is usually 1–3 minutes.

As long as the video shows the parcel opening to product testing, it's perfect.

???? Where to Store Your Unboxing Video

Keep it saved on:

  • Your phone

  • Google Photos

  • iCloud

  • Any cloud backup

If you ever need to raise a claim, simply share it with our support team.

❗ Important Tips

  • Do NOT pause the video

  • Keep everything in the frame

  • Make sure lighting is clear

  • Don’t remove the item from frame until the recording is complete

  • Keep the packaging for 48 hours (helps during replacements)
